ISO 7010 registers safety sign symbols intended to communicate consistent safety messages. The familiar families include yellow warning triangles, red prohibition circles, blue mandatory circles, green safe-condition signs and red fire-equipment signs.
What a product reference tells you
A product may identify an ISO 7010 symbol reference where the supplied artwork uses that registered symbol. Check the product specification rather than assuming every sign with a similar colour or shape carries the same reference.
Standards do not choose the site position
A recognised symbol can improve consistency, but the dutyholder still needs to decide whether a sign is necessary, where it should be seen, how large it should be and how it will be maintained.
